Under the strong influence of various social, economic and political events, millions of people have emigrated from the Balkans in recent decades and continued to build their lives outside the borders of their home country. Today, the Balkan diaspora is also made up of a large number of young people who were either born or relocated at some point, either for schooling or in search of work. The question is how they could be more involved in regional co-operation processes and whether and how the Balkan youth diaspora can influence the reconciliation process in the region.
The program is implemented with the support of the Balkan Trust for Democracy, a project of The German Marshall Fund of the United States and USAID.
Sadija Klepo – founder of the Balkan Days festival in Munich (Germany)
